NINA ADAMS IS AN INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER BASED IN SF

William Alan Hardie is a multidisciplinary Three Dimensional Designer offering an end to end service from concept design through to prototyping and final production from cutlery pieces through to large scale furniture. He has a BA in Three Dimensional design from Manchester Metropolitan University and an MA in Product and Spatial Design from Kingston University. He has worked as an assistant to Phillippe Malouin where he completed all development work and final prototyping for the "Hardie Stool" which launched for Kvadrat at Salone de mobile in Milan and then for three years under Gerrard Taylor former Memphis designer and creative director of UK based furniture manufacturer OrangeBox.
His own work is characterised by a sensitivity to and fascination with materials and process, fusing traditional "hand made" techniques with modern machine and digital work flows. He finds interest in these conflicting yet often complementary approaches, and contradiction and contrast is a continued theme throughout his work: the ancient tradition of fine cutlery carry sets for example reinterpreted in waterjet cut marble and stainless steel and concrete “common” London bricks and simple strapping from the builders yard are elevated to create minimalist sculptural furniture.
